In the “A Note or Two” column of The Chicago Defender, dated 22nd February 1919, the following letter was published:

“Jelly Roll Morton has organized a Jazz band at San Francisco, Cal., where he is making his home. He sends regards to all friends and would like to have them write. Mail will reach him if addressed to 3119 Broderick Street.” [CD]
